Nearness of the Biokovo Nature Park and some of the most attractive excursion destinations such as Split, Makarska, Međugorje and Dubrovnik, including ferry lines to beautiful islands of Hvar and Korčula, offer the possibility of organising one-day trips.


The apartments are completely new and fully equipped with A/C, TV, free Wi-Fi internet access, available parking spaces, barbecue, balconies or terraces.

Available apartments booking procedure:

Booking enquiries are made directly to apartment owners (e-mail, telephone or personally). The apartment owners will respond to the enquiry and if the response is positive the owners will keep the chosen accommodation unit available and free for the period the guests have requested until their arrival. Negative response to reservation inquiry: owners reserve the right to refuse the enquiry for any reason.

Settling the bill:

All bills should be settled in the first hour of the first day of the arrival of guests into the apartment. Otherwise, the guests will be asked to vacate the apartment and their advance (if paid) will be retained. Settlement includes the total amount for accommodation services provided, less any advance payment. Refund: after the guests start using the apartment, i.e. after settling the bill, no refund will be provided, regardless of the circumstances.

House rules:

Apartments are ready for check-in at 13.00 p.m. on the first day of arrival, and the check-out time is at 10.00 a.m. of the last day of accommodation. The last day of stay (check-out day) is not included in the total number of accommodation days.

Geographic position

Zaostrog is a settlement in the Municipality of Gradac, a territorial and administrative unit of Split-Dalmatia County. It has some 380 inhabitants whose chief occupation has always been farming and fishing and lately tourism and apartment renting. The neighbouring settlements are Brist, Drvenik, Gradac and Podaca. Zaostrog is located in the southern part of Makarska coastline. It got its name after the fortress Ostrog mentioned by the Byzantine emperor Constantine Phorphyrogenitus.

Zaostrog Franciscan monastery

The Franciscan monastery in Zaostrog famous for its tall bell-tower is thought to be five hundred years old. Tourists staying at Zaostrog may visit the monastery museum featuring an ethnographic collection, a gallery, archives and a library with more than 20 000 titles. Father Andrija Kačić Miošić, famous Croatian poet, writer and philosopher and father Ivan Despot, Croatian poet and writer created some of their best work in this monastery. Father A.K. Miošić was educated in Zaostrog monastery where later he became a Franciscan monk, wrote all of his works, died and was buried in Zaostrog in 1760. The monastery is often therefore called "Kačić’s monastery". The monastery also harbours a permanent gallery of one of the Croatian’s most famous living painters, Mladen Veža, born in Brist in 1916.

Summer events

During summer, all along the coastline of Makarska various festivities and events are being organised specific by the fact that they become the meeting ground of several thousands of domestic and foreign guests enjoying exquisite fish specialties, Dalmatian prosciutto and wine and performance by many famous musician and singers.

For those desiring a more active vacation, the nearness of the Biokovo Mountain offers a possibility of hiking and enjoying magnificent views of the southern Dalmatian islands.

To its summer guests, Zaostrog recommends a visit to the island of Zlarin where at the end of July you can enjoy the Evening of island-inspired sounds "Bodulska balada" evoking the island way of life with songs and music.

At the beginning of August, at the City of Sinj there is a traditional chivalric tournament "Sinjska Alka".

To see "Moreška" and "Kumapanija" you have to visit the island of Korčula in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

In the middle of August, a popular Maraton Lađa (river boat marathon) – an amateur sporting event featuring the race of ancient river boats is held on the river Neretva (from Metković to Ploče – 22.50 km) and as such is the most visited and the most viewed competition in Croatia.

Zaostrog is located near the highway, ferry dock and airport at the nearby City of Split enabling tourists to reach the farthest destinations on Dalmatian islands and Croatian inland very quickly.
